Following the success of this year’s exhibition Structure – Norwegian contemporary crafts and design, we invite designers and crafts artists to submit projects to be exhibited in Milan during FuoriSalone, 11-16 April 2017.

The 2017 exhibition will be curated by Katrin Greiling at Studio Greiling, a Stockholm-conceived Berlin-based office dedicated to furniture design, interior architecture and photography. The exhibition design will be done by Kråkvik&D’Orazio, a creative studio based in Oslo, run by Italian-born Alessandro D'Orazio and Oslo native Jannicke Kråkvik.

Milano 2017: Open call for entries

A country is always reflected in the culture created by its people. This exhibition will take a closer look at how contemporary crafts and design in Norway is understood by its geographical qualities and premises. We want to look at factors such as education, production facilities, access to materials and new technologies, studios and networks in order to create a current image of Norway as a design nation. Everything is connected.

The curator is looking for projects that will reflect the contemporary or future Norway and can be inspired by key words such as geographical connection, material access, historical reference, new technology and sustainable materials and thinking.

Designers working with prototypes are encouraged to work with our partners: Norway’s leading exporter of natural stone Lundhs and Jotun, one of the world’s biggest paint manufactures, or with other relevant manufacturers.

Crafts artists working with unique objects or series in ceramic, wood, glass, leather, metal and textiles are also welcome to apply.

It is important that the exhibitors have individual goals for their participation and it is a requirement that they are present during the fair days in Milan.

Proposals should be submitted as one PDF document and include:

  • Short project description
  • Short text explaining your goals and motivation to present at this arena
  • Photos of objects/prototypes or concept/product sketches
  • Images of previous projects
  • CV

Deadline: 23 September 2016
