Are you a Norwegian designer, crafts artist or manufacturer exhibiting at the Stockholm Design Week 2017? Then you can apply to attend A colour composition – New Norwegian design, an exclusive exhibition for press and special invitees in Stockholm in February. Application date is 18 November.

For an exclusive night at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Stockholm the exhibition A colour composition – New Norwegian design will present the best of new Norwegian design and crafts today. It will be carefully curated and exhibited in the historical building from 1953 by Norwegian architect Knut Knutsen. The exhibition will be curated and styled by the well-renowned duo Kråkvik & D’Orazio, and will be shown as part of an evening event exclusively for relevant design, architecture and lifestyle media and interior architects during Stockholm Design Week.

Its main focus will be on new Norwegian design and crafts with exciting compositions of colour and material. All the chosen exhibitors will be represented in press material and styled press photos will be made available for use free of charge.

An exhibition with unique character

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Stockholm is seen as one of Knut Knutsen’s most iconic buildings, and its original features have been well preserved. The unique rooms in the embassy building will set the frames for a very special exhibition. The curators will work closely with the exhibitors to create interesting compositions of colours and materials in the existing rooms. It will also be possible for the exhibitors to send their products for a photo shoot in early December.

Open call for entries

We encourage following groups to apply for the exhibition:

  • Norwegian independent designers who exhibit in Stockholm during the design week or have design news or products launched within the last year (from Norwegian or international brands)
  • Norwegian manufacturers presenting new Norwegian design products
  • Works from students and schools that exhibit at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2017

The curators are otherwise looking for:

  • Interesting compositions of colour and material
  • Variation
  • Aesthetic expression
  • Handcraft design and newly relaunched furniture classics or variations of earlier products will also be considered

Independent designers attend free of charge and manufacturers pay a fee of 10 000 NOK to exhibit at the event. All exhibitors will be invited to attend the exclusive event, and will get access to styled press photos and be included in a press package.

Proposals should be submitted as one PDF document and include short project description, photos of products and CV. Please submit to ida@doga.no by 18 November 2016.

The event is a collaboration between SMI, an initiative for Norwegian furniture design collaboration, and the event partners are the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Stockholm, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norwegian Crafts, Innovation Norway, Norsk Industri, Oslo Design Fair and the Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture (DOGA).

The PR event is arranged by Grand Relations, a leading Swedish PR agency working with brands in design, architecture and lifestyle. Graphic profile is designed by the Norwegian agency Work in Progress.
